Food planning for _any_ party

All the stuff that drives me nuts, both software and hardware. Maybe you have a better idea! Let me hear them!

Food planning for _any_ party

Postby gangrene » Mon Jun 04, 2007 11:37 pm

Sure, everybody likes pizza, but nobody likes the same thing on it. (What really sucks is having a Vegan in the group.)

Plus, it can really kill a LAN session when you are running the flag, and the Pizza guy shows up at the door.

In fact, one of the reasons for this site was to get all the participants to vote on the vittles in advance, so it doesn't have to be fretted over at game time.

So, does anyone have a clever solution to this problem?

We have a bunker fridge, how about a bunker oven? eh? eh? I know it would get super awful hot there, but then we could make our own pizzas!!

Other than that, you have to remember that we usually get Papa Johns' VERY DELICIOUS puzza, and you pay online. That means anyone can go to the door and get it, so that takes care of the problem of getting it.

As for the ordering, I suggest a poll the day of the party saying who wants what, and then it'll make the ordering that much easier.

Otherwise...if I know ahead of time, i'll make something delicious.

Hmm... an oven. Maybe in the garage.

If you are cooking, who is taking care of the kids? The wife certainly isn't.

bunker oven

I *might* have a new spare electric range/oven. Might have to craiglist it to make up some cash though. Make me an offer and it literally could be yours.

I like when Pottse cooks. And the spaghetti & salad night D&D games have worked well -- easy, cheap & quick. (Plus yummy "lettuce ketchup"!)

But also we should make a list of nearby food sources (Quiznos, Pizza, etc.) that have easy/cheap take out so pizza isn't the only ordering out option.

You do get 2 for 1 at Quiznos with your Xbox Diamond Club card. I'm just saying.

Solution to the disruptive pizza guy

Here's an idea...hang a neon sign near the garage.

The neighbors would love it and who knows, maybe you'll find another xmp fan.
